About us

Who we are

The website is run by Jens Törnell, with contributions from a wider group of people who help shape and improve the platform. This includes plugin developers themselves, as well as YouTubers and others from the music production community.

Rather than being a closed or purely editorial project, the site is built as a collaborative effort. Input from different perspectives helps keep the criteria relevant, the information accurate, and the platform grounded in real-world use rather than theory or marketing.

Motivation

The motivation behind the project is not primarily commercial. Instead, the goal is to raise the baseline quality of audio plugins by clearly defining a set of fundamental expectations that benefit users, developers, and the ecosystem as a whole.

By making these criteria visible and comparable, the platform encourages better standards and more user-friendly design choices. The intent is to create a shared reference point—a practical baseline—that rewards transparency, respects users’ workflows, and nudges the industry toward higher overall quality rather than short-term monetization.

About the site

This website helps users quickly determine whether a plugin meets a set of fundamental criteria that we believe all plugin developers should follow. The focus is on clear, binary answers to practical requirements such as having a trial version, no iLok, offline operation, no proprietary player, a resizable interface, and a perpetual license.

By deliberately minimizing clutter and secondary information, the site is optimized for speed and clarity. A fast search function and a system of concise labels make it easy to scan, filter, and compare plugins, allowing users to find solid, user-friendly tools without unnecessary friction or marketing noise.
